FAITA Concepts and questions Part 3


Yeah the image on the left doesn't have the same kind of stance as the one on the right, i'll fix it later.
This Entry talks about how battles will be initiated and what happens after battles, buildings that may be necessary, and consumable items. (edit 14mar2011)

How are the battles going to be initiated?  in pokemon, random monsters pop up in fields or in certain areas, other games, only in world maps and/or dungeons

I think i'd like the battles to be initiated like pokemon's trainers.  You will have to walk into their line of sight or talk to them and a battle will start.  some will be aggressive, and some will prompt you if you want to fight.  After a fight, some of the beaten characters will be laid horizontal and you'll have to go into a building or something to refresh their state so you can fight them again.  while others, the passive fighters, will say something like "that was a nice fight, let's spar again sometime"

I think there might be different battle conditions also.  I kind of like the idea of a sparring match where you aren't aiming for the head but perhaps the body instead. (edit 14mar2011)
-Perhaps turn off the head as a hit-able target or make it even subtract EXP for hitting the head in  a sparring match.  (edit 14mar2011)
-Also probably disable limb breaking techniques while in a sparring match. (edit 14mar2011)
While in a fight where they're actually trying to get you, you don't have to worry about any restrictions(edit 14mar2011)
So NO random encounters, there will be people around that will want to challenge you or that you can challenge. 

I don't know if i want everyone to be challenge-able - like shop keeps or w/e

I think once the player is defeated, they'll wake up in the hospital which will be equivalent to a pokemon center

I guess there should be a Hospital, General Store...

Hospital for healing status conditions
General Store for medicine and food (healing items)
Perhaps an Inn for the quick cureall

Might not need a hospital/clinic
maybe the general store could be a Pharmacy/general store that could sell drugs and drinks

There could be a Gym in the game that could help raise your Limb stats but won't help your Skill level

What is the setting?  A world of fighters?  Will it take place at a school?  Perhaps the pokemon gym equivalents will be Schools. 
I like this idea.

Gotta find more use for money.

What kind of Items will there be?
I think food will be the primary healing item.  Perhaps not.  There could be something for healing a single body part, and something for healing all body parts. 

So I guess body parts won't heal after battles? I kinna want them to.  I guess it's better if they don't that way money can be used for items.  99 items will be the max - Definitely not 9.  Dunno if there will be a weight limit. 

It'd be nice if a  weighted backpack (filled with your items) would help with stats.  But no. not in this game.

Perhaps AP will not start filled at the start of every turn but will instead charge an amount.  the amount would need to be determined by a stat
