REFLECTOR BELT GAME?

Ugh.  Started playing a bit of Spiral Knights.  I love the look and the feel of the game.  I also find the way micro-transactions are implemented to be ingenious.  I'd want Bomberda to look like Spiral Knights.

Here's an unrelated idea:

Crude idea concept of the boy in the dark. He'd have to be FAR more endearing.

A game where the there's lots of darkness and reflector belts and reflective stuff will keep you safe.

While walking to work I had my reflector belt on and felt like an idiot.  I started to think, "WHO would think this was a good idea?"  Reflective belts for grown adults to wear so they aren't hit by cars.  This doesn't seem like a necessary idea for adults. Kids, sure. adults?  This is unnecessary.  I started thinking that the reflector belt idea is far more plausible for a child to buy.  "here- where this. It will keep you safe when you're walking around in the dark"  safe from what?  really, only cars that are going slowly with their headlights on and their drivers being somewhat attentive.  But with a reason not given, and the child's mind be left to wander, the reflector belt could protect against any and everything( it looks like a laser after all).  The scary things of the night.  Warded off thanks to this reflective stuff.

So I was thinking this would be a 2D adventure game.  Castleroid again, but more atmospheric i guess.  I was thinking gradually  more belts, straps, vests, and perhaps bracelets and light up shoes could be gained.  They'd all help illuminate our (very likely child of a) hero and they'd have to have some other uses - probably weapons or something.  Perhaps the various reflector things could even summon monsters to instill some bravery in our lad in the dark.

The look of the game wouldn't be serious and would be a very very childish setting.  it'd have monsters, but not horrifying monsters - simple and hardly scary ones.   There would probably have to be some designs to continually show a sense of scale.  showing that this is a child rather a fully grown adult.  Perhaps he gets lost in an Aunt's house.  It'll probably be a nightmare and toward the end he wakes up.  Maybe once hit too much he'll get startled and awaken in the middle of the night, then go back to sleep.

I still think reflector belts are stupid, but this is yet another idea for a game...
