Bejeweled Battle Ideas!

here are some ideas i thought about on the walk home from a friend's house

I've been trying to get more ideas for the longest! and they finally came to me while walking home.  Feels good man




not all tiles will activate as a result of a combo.  If a laser or a shotgun is hit with any offensive tiles, they're simply destroyed.

the bomb ones will combo  bomb and xbomb
the lasers and shotguns will not
Weapon tiles can still set off bomb tiles




health can combo shields and/or health
money will affect nearby tiles

you can defuse bombs on your side when you align them

the shotgun tiles and laser tiles will only align vertically


Previously, Everything was going to explode when it connected with the effects of another match up.  Now, only bombs will be activated through the effects of other offensive tiles being matched.  Unlike before where a Laser tile would be activated if hit by a bomb or by a shotgun blast.  Now, if a Laser tile is hit with a bomb or anything else, it'll just be destroyed.  On the flip side, if a bomb of any kind is hit by a laser or a shotgun blast, it WILL activate and blow up/activate other things.


I may have stated this before, but healing tiles and shield tiles will not activate bombs or other weapon tiles.  They can only activate each other.  I don't recall if I've gone over how money tiles will work.  Currently the idea is that they will be meteorites, and when they're activated, they'll disappear and give money to the player.  Their surrounding area will also be affected in some kind of pattern.  The affected area(s) will essentially be "enchanted" and will give a little bit of extra money when the tiles are cleared. 

I've been trying to think of more ways a defensive player can be benefited in this game.  An idea that came to me is one i'm quite happy about.  I've decided that when a player aligns bombs on their own side, the bombs are deemed "de-activated" and they simply disappear instead of being blown up.  There won't be a big ol' explosion which is something that kinna saddens me, but an offense as the only means of defense just doesn't sit right with me- players needed more ways to defend against their attackers. 

Finally,  after some troubles coming up with some designs i could be proud of for the "shotgun" type effect, i've decided that it'd both be easier for me if the tiles only aligned vertically like the lasers.  The blast pattern(s) will probably be shown later.

For the record, this is how things will be allowed to align:

Bombs: vertically, horizontally, and diagonally?
Xbombs: diagonally
Laser: vertically
Shotgun: vertically
Forcefield: horizontally
Repair: Vertically and horizonally
Money/meteorite: Vertically and horizonally
Units: vertically and horizontally.

My brother and I considered the idea of allied and enemy units lining up and duking it out.  I think it was decided to be a decent idea.  The player that had more units in the fight would do more damage... there's more to it, but it's hard to explain without diagrams and i don't feel like getting into it.

For the single player i've been thinking about how to reward leveling up.  perhaps making more facilities/equipment available while certain level thresholds enable the player to equip more facilities/equipment.

mmmm delicious ideas.  I hope to have more and perhaps i will continue to share them.
